Pangea  is a theory which explains the arrangement of continents on  Earth. Millions of years ago all the current scattered continents is believed to be  attached together. The one huge land mass which consisted of all continents is called  Pangea.

 

 

Then for a reason that is still not known for sure, the continents broke apart and began to drift in opposite directions. The theory goes on to say that the continents will continue to drift until they meet again, in a different configuration. The earth’s lithosphere, or the top layer consists of large plates that move around in response to the flow of the asthenosphere beneath it.

 

You can try it yourself just open up the world map, and just notice that its all a jigsaw puzzle out there ,you can always join India with Africa and Australia at the end of it.You can see the clear pattern among North America and South America.

 

 

The continents are continuously on the move,the displacement is so small that is goes un noticed.The continents move merely 1.5 inches a year, while some other move at an alarming speed of 2.5 inches per year.

 

 The big question becomes, what will happen, what will be the effect of these incredibly large masses running into each other. What few people know is that it's already began. Africa has been slowly colliding with Europe for millions of years.

 

The continental drift may atlast result in a one single Pangea again.  At that point, most of the world's landmass would be joined into a super-continent .The collision might also trap an inland ocean. So lets hope to get united soon and ofcourse with the downside of more wars to be fought for water and energy ,if the current trend follows.
